Rules of the town square

Waidrn is a patronage town square for human creativity. It is a place to publish stories, talk on the boards, and fund what you want to exist. The community is kind; the ledger is literal. These rules are the same rules we enforce through the moderation queue — see Moderation for how reports are handled.

1. Be decent to people

No harassment, hate speech, threats, doxxing, or coordinated abuse. Critique work, not people. If someone asks you to stop, stop.

2. Publish only what you have the right to publish

You may post your own work, and you may post transformative fanworks — for free, to be read for free. You must hold the rights to anything you publish, or your use must be lawful. Never post someone else's paid or stolen text. See the Content Policy and Copyright & takedown.

3. No illegal content

No CSAM, no content that sexualises minors, no incitement to violence, no malware, no doxxing. This is not negotiable and is not a matter of taste.

4. Adult content is gated and labelled

Mature and Explicit works and threads must carry the correct rating and content warnings. They are visible only to signed-in adults who have confirmed adult access for the session; anonymous visitors never see them. Tag honestly — mislabelling adult content is itself a violation.

5. No paywalls

Everything published on Waidrn is free to read. If you publish here, you commit to keeping it free to access here. You may link to your own external support pages — your own site, a supporter page, or wherever you choose. That is your right as a creator.

6. The economy is simulated

WAID coins, post power, and simulated US dollars are demo money. They are not an investment, not a security, and not convertible to real money. There are no real payments, no KYC, and no blockchain. The platform takes no fee on anything.

7. Power is rented memory

Every board post, chapter, and quest proposal carries power: WAID staked to it. Power pays rent (1 spark per byte per day) and decays. When a post runs out of power it enters a 7-day grace period (content truncated, but recoverable); after grace it is pruned — the body is deleted and a tombstone remains. Comments are free and do not decay. Likes are free. Power keeps the record alive; gifts and top-ups refill it.

8. Gifts split by the creator's rule

Each power-bearing post has an author share (0–100%, default 50%). A gift is split: the author's share goes to the author's spendable balance immediately; the rest stays as power and keeps the post alive. The current split is shown publicly on every post.

9. Contracts are literal

Community projects are Universal Contracts: a requester writes terms, patrons back the pool, a creator claims it with milestones, and patrons vote STAY or LEAVE at each milestone. Only delivered milestones are paid. Terms, milestones and payout percentages become immutable at claim acceptance. Abstaining counts as STAY. Public receipts are permanent.

10. Use your profiles honestly

Your account can present several profiles (pen names, one-realm scoped profiles, 18+ profiles). The profile you post with is shown publicly, and profile rules apply everywhere: no real-human imagery or photorealistic faces, no impersonation of staff/creators/real people, and automated policy checks apply to every profile edit. Scoped profiles post only in their realm; adult-only profiles post only where the contract is 18+.

11. Respect realm contracts

Realms and threads have versioned contracts: tiers from tame to uncensored-lawful, plus flags such as adult-only, explicit-sex, image/link rules, profile rules and location availability. Post within the contract of the place you are posting in. Contracts can be tightened, never loosened by a child realm or thread, and the platform's unlawful-content floor applies everywhere. If you accept an adult contract, you are confirming you are an adult and that you will follow it.

12. Legal notices go through the notice paths

Copyright complaints follow the Copyright & takedown process; court orders, regulator orders, law-enforcement requests and other legal demands go through the legal-notice intake. Do not post someone else's private data, and do not try to resolve a legal dispute by publishing it. A receipt of a notice is not a decision.

13. Moderation

Anything can be reported: posts, threads, works, chapters, comments, projects, users. Reports go to the moderation queue. Moderators may hide, tombstone, lock, or pin content, and may suspend accounts; every action is written to the audit log and every decision can be reviewed by an admin. The full policy, including contract-aware decisions and appeals, is on the Moderation page. Decisions and appeals carry identifiers, and aggregate counts are published on Transparency.
